It's taken 17 years, but I have now changed my opinion on what the best video game ever released is.
I just finished Portal.
It's SO WELL DONE. And I had no idea I would be saying this. I was sure it was just some weird puzzle game. I bought the Orange Box (Valve's pack-of-five-games-for-a-stupidly-low-pr ice) a couple of days ago, and, just, damn. I feel sad the same way that I used to feel sad when I'd finish great books.
I googled "portal is amazing" and "portal is perfect" before writing this, just to see who else felt like this, and it seems to be pretty wide-spread as an opinion.
Man. I don't think a game has made me think "holy shit, they did absolutely everything right" in ... practically forever.
